Massage Therapy in Maitland

Massage and chiropractic care work hand-in-hand to help provide a holistic approach to healing. While chiropractic care is focused on the joints of the spine and extremities, and their relationship to the nervous system, massage deals with the soft tissues of the body.

Your chiropractic adjustments seek to restore proper alignment and movement to the joints. Massage helps heal the muscles and other connective tissues, so they can hold your body in the proper position and allow you to move freely.

Our Techniques

At Hunter Chiropractic Collective, we offer various soft tissue therapies, including:

Myofascial Release Therapy (MRT)—Myofascial tissue is situated under the skin and surrounds muscles, bones, ligaments and tendons. These tissues can become tight and restricted due to injury, overuse or disuse, resulting in pain, tension and reduced blood flow. MRT is a slow technique designed to decrease pain and increase mobility. Most people feel immediate relief, although some tiredness or aches and pains may occur for about 24 hours after this therapy, as your body flushes out toxins.

Benefits of Myofascial Release: MRT may help soothe the symptoms of muscle and joint pain, migraine headaches, back pain, fibromyalgia and/or injuries due to improper shoulder or hip alignment.

Deep Tissue—Like Swedish, but with deeper pressure to release chronic muscle tension. Focuses on muscles, tendons and fascia.

Benefits of Deep Tissue: This technique may reduce lower back pain, release neck, upper back and shoulder tension, and ease tight muscles in the arms and legs.

Remedial—Focuses on muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia to aid rehabilitation, pain and injury management.

Benefits of Remedial: People may experience reduced muscle tension, improved circulation, stimulation of the lymphatic system, reduction of stress hormones, relaxation, increased joint mobility and flexibility, improved skin tone, and mproved recovery of soft tissue injuries.

Relaxation—Not a therapeutic technique; this form focuses on relaxing and soothing the body.

Benefits of Relaxation: Besides feeling great, this technique may help lower blood pressure (at least for a while), improve peripheral circulation, improve skin tone and appearance, improve gastrointestinal motility (bowel movements will become more regular), reduce muscle tension and tension headaches, decrease stress-related symptoms and boost the immune system with regular sessions.

Dry Needling—Uses a thin acupuncture needle to release muscle tension, decrease inflammation and promote healing.
